Course Overview & Objectives
This course is designed for anyone passionate about painting cats, whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist. While rooted in Oriental Brush Art (such as Chinese painting or Japanese Sumie painting), the techniques taught here can be applied across various art styles.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
✔ Use a reference picture to paint almost any cat.
✔ Paint without pencil sketches, using only brush techniques.
✔ Progress towards painting cats without any reference through dedicated practice.
✔ Apply these skills to traditional and digital art, making this course relevant for all kinds of artists.
Course Structure
This course consists of both theoretical and practical lessons, supported by downloadable slides for deeper learning.
🔹 Theoretical Section:
- Learn about cat anatomy, posture, and movement in detail.
- Understand how to paint directly with a brush, without needing pencil sketches.
🔹 Practical Section:
- Step-by-step painting of three complete cats, fully explained from start to finish.
- Tips & tricks for working with ink, painting brushes, and rice paper.
Materials Needed
You will need the following supplies:
- Rice paper (Raw or half-raw)
- 2-3 painting brushes
- Chinese painting colors (You can start with what you already have)
- Other supplies: Felt, water container, white plates
