Gongbi Painting (6) – Persimmon & Waxwing
About Course
Course Introduction
This refined painting style is perfect for relieving mental stress and restoring your energy. Originating in China over 2,000 years ago, this art form has maintained its significance in the art world to this day. Like a fine wine, this painting technique requires patience and care, both of which you will cultivate throughout the painting process. As you paint, you will naturally slow down, and in doing so, the world around you will seem to follow—allowing you to enjoy a moment of peace and quiet.
Course Objective
In this course, we will start from scratch, guiding you through the process from overall outlining to coloring. Our primary focus will be on painting birds, specifically feathers. Throughout the course, we will also explore relevant aspects of Chinese culture to deepen your understanding of the artistic tradition.
This course does not cover the illustration phase, as the skills required for illustration are more advanced and beyond the beginner level. To ensure accessibility, a pre-made outline will be provided as a direct download for you to use.
As we develop our skills in bird painting, we will refine our ability to paint soft and hard feathers, along with practicing ink and color layering on different elements. Additionally, we will discuss the symbolic meanings of paintings, equipping you with deeper cultural insights that will enhance your ability to engage in intercultural communication.
