About Course
The Art of Bird Painting: A Foundational Course
Course Description
This refined painting style is an excellent way to relieve stress and restore energy. Originating in China over 2,000 years ago, it continues to hold a respected and enduring place in the art world. Like a fine wine, this painting style requires patience and care, both of which you will naturally develop as you progress through the course. As you immerse yourself in each brushstroke, you will find that your mind slows down, bringing a sense of tranquility and focus.
Course Objective
In this course, we will start from the fundamentals, beginning with brush painting outlines before moving on to coloring the entire composition. Alongside the technical aspects, we will also explore the cultural significance of bird painting in Chinese art.
This course does not cover the illustration aspect of drafting the outline, as the skills required for this process are more advanced than the beginner level. Instead, a pre-made, downloadable outline will be provided, allowing you to focus on brush techniques and color application.
Bird painting holds a special place in Chinese art, regarded as one of the gems in the crown of traditional painting. In both Freehand and Gongbi styles, it requires careful observation, refined brushwork, and attention to detail. This course serves as an introduction to bird painting, laying the groundwork for future lessons in this intricate and rewarding subject.
